“Lowly the Tree Ghost is a band that was brought together through the common idea of nourishing and creating music that embraces vivid imagery for its audience while establishing a sense of community.

The band’s varied musical backgrounds and tastes coalesce, creating a sound that cannot be carefully compartmentalized into one genre. They delicately traipse the folk-rock line and then in the next song, will be found leaning towards a pop or an indie sound.

Their subject matter is as varied as their influences—from the seen to unseen, to animal parades, to darker subjects like death and suicide, Lowly shows its range by never settling. The band is always striving for growth, each member always reaching higher, until they have become one of the …

Weaving soaring, at times haunted vocals through rock-derived folk, Cleveland’s Humble Home has intertwined the darkest corners of Americana with a rollicking energy since 2009. Free-spirited and wild-eyed, the 2012 release of In Our Sleep, the band’s third and most sonically expanded EP, saw their rustic ambiance take new life through a collection of melodic, stomping anthems. Maintaining the experimental lure of their debut EP Prologue to Doubt, and its follow-up, Wicked Men, these young Midwest gentlemen have established themselves as masters of crafting their storytelling with a nod to the cinematic and a versatility that is all at once voyeuristic and captivatingly human.

While the more minimalist acoustics of Prologue to Doubt and Wicked Men allowed an intimate showcase for the echoing lead vocals of Nick …

Ohio City Stage
Performance Time: 9:30 pm

Hometown: New York, NY

Hollis Brown is one of the best young Rock n’ Roll bands in America. They released their debut “Ride On The Train” last year on Alive Natural Sound and have been on the road ever since growing a solid fanbase in both Europe and the states.

Instrumentally, the songs continue to explore the fringes of many genres ranging from 1970s FM radio Americana balladeering (Dreaming Man II), McCartney-esque pop stylings (Feedback), and straightforward power-pop (Alexander the Great). The melodies remain soaring and elegant, the arrangements beautifully complex and catchy, and the instrumentation ideally and intelligently complimenting the lyrics of each song.

Serving in the US Navy as a real-life air traffic controller, singer/songwriter Dave Munro sent home 4-track demos he had written and recorded during his deployment. With his enlistment up, Munro returned to hometown Boston and discovered an impressive number of fans, prompting the genesis of the aptly-named rock band Air Traffic Controller.
With a refreshing, modern day, indie rock sound that’s a cross between Of Monsters and Men meets They Might be Giants, “ATC” further infuses its compositions with unforgettable pop sensibilities in the vein of Petty, McCartney, and Springsteen. Munro keeps it honest, with autobiographical lyrics and well-crafted storytelling reminiscent of classic singer/songwriters such as Paul Simon and Cat Stevens.
One of Dave’s demos reached LA-based singer/songwriter and record producer Bleu. Munro states; “I was floored to find …

The Lighthouse and the Whaler is a band from Cleveland, Ohio, though its name alludes to the waters off the coast of Massachusetts. Inspired by a theme from Moby Dick, the band’s name alone is enough to make underpaid Literature teachers beam with pride. The Lighthouse and the Whaler recently released its new album, “This is an Adventure, produced by Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Ra Ra Riot), which NPR Music liked so much it named the band the “next artist on the rise. The album debuted at #92 on iTunes alternative music charts in it’s first week. The album gained momentum on radio too reaching #104 on the CMJ music charts. The band has shared stages with the likes of The …

“The Ridges are an orchestral folk rock band from the Appalachian college town of Athens, Ohio. Rooted in the collaboration of Victor Rasgaitis (guitar, vocals) and Talor Smith (cello, vocals), the duo is supported live by a rotating cast of musicians adding classical and folk rock instrumentation ranging from cellos, violas, violins, upright bass, and horns to banjo, mandolin, accordion, and drums. By augmenting their aggressive, high-energy performances with haunting, all-acoustic instrumentation, The Ridges craft their own unique brand of indie rock compositions. It’s a distinct sound that overflows with the dark romanticism of their ominous namesake – Athens’ abandoned Victorian-style insane asylum where the band recorded their self-titled EP.

Known for bringing an electrifying energy to acoustic music, MidPoint Music Festival called …
