Though you may be hearing her name for the first time, Lucy Stone has a voice that’s hard to forget. A Philadelphia native, the 20 year-old songstress has already dedicated herself to more projects than a person has fingers. Lucy has opened for national acts such as The Dirty Projectors, Cymbals Eat Guitars, B.o.B and Major Lazer. Most recently the young college student has just finished working with multi-platinum recording artist Rusted Root on their new album entitled “The Movement”.

Transitioning from a multi-band repertoire to her newly formed solo project, Lucy released her first EP, “Would You?” in late April. Showcasing a unique lyrical style, the songs are intricately crafted, and were recorded in West Philadelphia with her band consisting of Brandon Bost, Sean Donaghy, Isaac Louis and Paul Impellizeri. With a variety of folk-inspired harmonies and re-vamped vintage guitar tones, the bass and drums drive the arrangements, tastefully borrowing a 60’s pop sensibility that defines the blues-based indie-pop band.

Those unfamiliar with her previous work have cited her as “sleeper talent, with the name to succeed,” claiming that her song “Out of Time” “deserves more than your attention” for it’s “refreshingly unique hook and raw vocal skills.” Also piquing the interest of several music blogs, Bruce Warren, program director at XPN, calls Lucy a “very promising up and coming artist,” whose “wonderful three-song EP” is “excellently arranged, these pop songs bring to mind the work of Natalie Merchant and Paula Cole.”

Since the EP’s release, Lucy was named “Philadelphia’s Artist of the Month” by Deli Magazine and was invited to perform on Radio 104.5′s “live @ 5″. Lucy has revisited venues such as The North Star Bar and World Café Live Downstairs with her newly structured band. After several festival appearances and a successful national tour with Rusted Root, Lucy is back in the studio preparing for the bands first full length release.
